The signing ceremony was also attended by SUBÜ Secretary General Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Gökhan Ergen, Faculty of Applied Sciences Vice Deans Assoc. Dr. Sinan Esen and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Selma Kılıç Kırılmaz, President of the Sakarya Blacksmiths and Turners Chamber Bahattin Kılınç, and SAMİB Founding Board Chairman Metin Kar.
Protocol Details
Under the job-guaranteed program, students selected for SAMİB’s guaranteed job pool must be among the top 10% of their department based on graduation GPA and possess at least C1 level proficiency in English or German. Selected students must apply to SAMİB within 20 working days after graduation to be referred to member companies for employment. The protocol applies to graduates who are Turkish citizens and will be valid for five years.
Contributing to Qualified Employment
SUBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık highlighted the success of the +1 Education Model and the goal of job-guaranteed programs: “Today, we are taking the first step with SAMİB. The job offer rate at our Faculty of Applied Sciences has reached 88%. More students are now choosing our faculty among the top ranks, and guidance counselors are recommending our programs. We always emphasize quality, and gaining practical skills is a key part of that. With SAMİB, with whom we have collaborated since the beginning of the +1 Education Model, we are proud to sign our first job-guaranteed department protocol. We aim to expand such programs to further contribute to the qualified employment needs of our city and country. This protocol will pave the way for new protocols in other fields as well.”
Growth of the Machinery Manufacturing Industry
SAMİB Chairman Turgay Çelik emphasized the sector’s role in exports: “With the ongoing establishment of the Eastern Marmara Machinery Manufacturers Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (DOMİOSB) in Kaynarca, our export rates will increase. Investors from outside the city will come to open factories, and we will create excellent living spaces around the OSB, making the region an attractive center. To grow our business, we need qualified employees. The +1 Education Model has provided some relief, but we need more skilled workers to sustain our growth. We already provide training under SAMİB, and we are pleased to sign our first job-guaranteed department protocol with SUBÜ. We believe this protocol will help us increase our production and capacity significantly.”
A Multi-Faceted Partnership
SAMİB Founding Board Chairman Metin Kar highlighted the importance of university collaboration: “Universities are among our strongest partners in solving the problems of industrialists. Our cooperation with SUBÜ benefits the business world, the university, our students, and our city and country. We are also aware of the challenges students face during their academic years. Together, we will achieve many more successful initiatives.”
